While reading Daniel chapter 6 this morning the familiar passage of Daniel being thrown into the lions den and how God miraculously came through for him. I noticed something about the guys who planned this whole thing to take place. When we willfully and maliciously plan the suffering and destruction of others it has a way of coming back on us.
The great thing about this story is the relationship between King Darius and Daniel. Darius first realized the mistake he made by signing the law. He even went as far as trying to figure out a way to get Daniel out of the situation. The amazing thing was the joy he experienced when he found out that Daniel was unharmed by the lions and that the Lord had come through on His behalf. The lesson to be learned from this is God is faithful to those who are faithful to Him.
Which leads me to the title and ultimate theme of this blog. Through the malicious attack of these people the suffering they had planned for Daniel had a way of coming back on them. Verse 24 of this chapter tells us that King Darius had these men along with their wives and children arrested and thrown into the lions den. It also says that before they hit the bottom the lions tore them apart.
We must realize that the choices we make not only affects us as individuals, but it also affects our families and those closest to us. When we suffer the consequences of our choices others suffer too. We must learn to examine the intent and motive of every decision we make, especially if we don't want to invite unwanted destruction, suffering, or annihilation into our own lives and those closest to us.
Just a thought... Be careful of the decisions you make they do have consequences.
