Strength Source

Zechariah 4:6 = "Then He said to me, 'This is what the Lord says to Zerubbabel: It is not by force or by strength, but by my Spirit, says the Lord of Heaven's Armies.'"

More times than not we have this false perception that we can accomplish just about anything based on human reasoning and power. We must realize that apart from God there really isn't must we can do on our own strength.

God makes it clear here to Zechariah that even though Zerubbabel would be the one to complete the rebuilding of the Temple of God, it was not because of anything special that Zerubbabel did, but what God did through him. And it was what God did through Zerubbabel and how He used Zerubbabel that brought all the glory and honor back to Himself so that all the world would know that He was the Lord.

The same is no different with us. God uses us in special ways and give us special abilities from time to time to not only prove that all things are possible with God, but also to bring all the glory and honor back to Him.

So, while we each do have special gifts and abilities that God wants us to use to advance His kingdom, we must always be mindful of the fact that when we put all our hope in trust in our own abilities and talents we are still limited in what we can accomplish. We must put all our hope, trust and faith in the Spirit of God and know that it is by His Spirit that all things are possible.
