What Are We Reproducing?

Christian Leadership guru John Maxwell teaches in the "21 Laws of Leadership", "We teach what we know, but we reproduce who we are."

My question is what or who are we reproducing? How do we interact with others. Are modeling Christ's love or do we stereotype?

These are good and valid questions we must ask ourselves in leadership. Whether we realize it or not those closest to us watch us and imitate us. If we show and express genuine love towards others, those following us will do the same. However, the reverse is true as well. When we stereotype people and continually judge them, we pass on this judgmental spirit to others.

When Christ shared the Last Supper with His disciples, he modeled true servant leadership. While they were arguing over who would be the greatest in the Kingdom, He was washing their feet. When they begin to understand what was happening, He challenged them to follow His example to serve others.

What is the driving force behind the things we do? Are we servant/relationship driven, or are we judgmental/stereotype driven? Do we really want to raise up others to advance God's kingdom or do we really care less?

If we truly want to reproduce Kingdom builders it all starts with self. That's right, if I want to reproduce Kingdom builders then I must be a Kingdom builder myself. If I want to reproduce servant leaders, then I myself must exemplify what a servant leader looks like.

So I guess, it is all summed up in a question, What am I reproducing? What are you reproducing? What are we as extensions of Christ reproducing?
