Luke 6:45 = "A good person produces good things from the treasury of a good heart, and an evil person produces evil things from the treasury of an evil heart. What you say flows from what is in your heart."
Things we say don't just slip, they reveal what the true nature of our hearts are. If we want good, true and pure things to come out of us we must put them in us. As the old saying goes what goes up must come down, and what goes in will come out. If we are constantly feeding ourselves evil things then evil is what we will produce. However, when we feast on things that are good, things that are of God, good things are produced.
I want to feast on good thing and not evil so that words spoken and deeds done are good things, things that bring honor to God. I want to daily spend time in the Word and prayer so that when the time comes to speak it will be good and not evil.
Lord, help me to be a person of good report. Help me to feed and feast on things that are good and not evil. Lord, fill my mouth with worthwhile stuff that will encourage others to follow and serve You.
