John 15:15
15I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master's business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you.
This is perhaps one of my favorite verses in Scripture. The fact that we are more than servants for the most high, we are His Friends.
When we accept Christ as our Lord and Savior, and He takes reign in our hearts and lives we become more than just his servants. The Bible goes on to say that we are heirs, and joint heirs with Christ in the Kingdom of God. More than that we are called His friend.
It written of Abraham that because of righteousness sake he was considered a friend of God. I can't think of any better company than Christ Himself to be put in a class with as a friend of God.
Earlier in this same passage of Scripture, Christ tells us that greater love has no man than to be willing to lay down his life for his friends. That is exactly what Christ did for us. My question is are we willing to do the same? I believe the time is coming soon when we may be forced to answer that question. Are we willing to die for Christ? Are we willing to die for our faith?
In looking at the life of Abraham I notice three things that makes him stand out and receive that precious title of friend. I believe these are three things God is looking for in us as well to be classified as His friend.
1. Devoted.
2. Faithful.
3. Intimate.
I believe God expects nothing less than this from His children and friends.
My prayer is that all of these aspects will be real in my life and my relationship with God.
