Who Can Compare?

Psalm 115 (from The Message)

4-9
God is higher than anything and anyone,
outshining everything you can see in the skies.
Who can compare with God, our God,
so majestically enthroned,
Surveying his magnificent
heavens and earth?
He picks up the poor from out of the dirt,
rescues the wretched who've been thrown out with the trash,
Seats them among the honored guests,
a place of honor among the brightest and best.
He gives childless couples a family,
gives them joy as the parents of children.
Hallelujah!

Who can compare to God? What can compare to God? I can give you the answer to both of these questions in one big word, NOTHING. There is nothing and no one in this world that even comes close to comparing with the God of wonders, the God of all majesty.

I don't know about you but I have made my fair share of mistakes in life. I will be the first to tell you that I am far from perfect and that there is always room for improvement in life. I don't believe we can ever be too close to God. As a matter of fact I want to be close enough that I can still hear that still small voice even in the midst of all the chaos of life.

I guess one of the things that amazes me the most about God is that in our shortcomings when He could cast judgment immediately, He instead picks us up and cares for us. He picks us up and puts us back on the right path. He picks us up and nourishes us back to health. While God doesn't agree with our sin, He NEVER kicks us while we're down.

In my personal opinion this is one aspect of God that all Christians need to learn to put into practice. I have grown up in church all my life and hate to admit the fact that quote/unquote Christian people can be some of the cruelest people in the world. It is almost as if we get a thrill out beating people while their down. This type of spirit does not compare with the character of God. (I'll get off my soap box now).

Another great thing about God is that when He rescues us from the miry clay, when He cleanses us of our impurities He still seats us with the honored guests as if we belong there. God doesn't single us out, He treats us equal. What a mighty God we serve.

My prayer is that I never lose sight of God's marvelous greatness. That I would always be mindful of His great love and what He has done for me through His Son Jesus. May I always be thankful of the blessings He bestows.
